| Our client is recruiting a specialty physician for the position of Medical Director of Specialty Services. The ideal candidate must be board certified in a specialty and have previous experience in medical staff leadership. *Past involvement in medical administrative functions is preferred. *The Medical Director would be a half time administrative position and is expected to continue to practice in his/her specialty. *The Medical Director would report directly to the Executive Vice President/COO of the Hospital. Job Description: ***Licensed physician (D.O. or M.D.) currently in practice in the State of Michigan. *** Candidate will have at least five years experience in medico-administrative functions, with past history of medical staff leadership positions. *** Medical Director will function as a liaison with specialists and senior leadership. Start Date: 04/14/2008 (As soon as possible) Assignment Duration: PERM Number of positions available: 1 Shift: Days Job Functions: Co-chair of the Perioperative Committee which meets monthly to enhance the efficiency of the surgical processes at Metro Health. Develop updated core privileging of all the specialty departments through the credentialing/privileging processes of the medical staff. Co-chair of the Business Development Subcommittee that evaluates new products/procedures for use in the hospital. Serve as a member of the following committees to provide feedback to the specialty departments: * Credentials Committee * Physician Leadership Committee * Physician Services Committee * Monday Hospitalist Meeting (0730 weekly) * Friday Cardiology meeting (0700 biweekly) * Specialty department meetings to provide feedback on hospital activities Assist the Exec. V.P./Chief Operating Officer and Chief Financial Officer in analyzing exclusive contracts (Radiology, Anesthesia, Emergency Medicine, Rehabilitation, Cardiology) for fair market value and community standards.
